I've had a few people interested in the knives I make. Here is one I made last week for my brother. I grind everything freehand from flat bar-stock. This knife is made from 3/16 1075, black paper micarta and stainless rivets for the handle. I do everything including the heat treating myself.

That is really cool skinner, any chance you would do a write up on how you make these with pics or video?

You have great a talent and I love knives.

Thanks for all the comments!

It's pretty simple.

1- Draw the shape of the knife you want onto the steel.

2- Grind everything away that doesn't look like a knife.

3- Add handle material.

4- Buff.

:D

I'll try to document the next knife I make with some pics.

ok, fair enough.

What are you using to remove the material (grind with)?
Where are you getting the steel?
Is the handle a pre-made handle or did you also shape that?

I'm sure I'll have more questions.

ps, if you want to keep this info quiet, pm me... :D

Sweet knife.

You can cut the knife material from old table saw blades. The blades without carbide teeth are a hardened chrome steel. 10" table saw blades are about 1/8" thick.

Buy it in pieces, then shape it.

Im a novice, but I have made 3 of my own. last year I snagged a garage door motor

So I have been researching the DYI 2x72" sander. Wow, this thing is a must have. I'm really excited about building one. Anyone have a good thread of plans they have used?

I really want to try this knife building thing and it looks like having the sander is the first step.

Thanks,
