Knik is probably one of the most popular recreating areas in the state. It's about 45 miles north of Anchorage, and although it has a reputation for being quite mild terrain wise, it can also cost you your life. This area is a glacier runoff area (Knik River is the main body of water), and the terrain changes drastically from year to year.
The area we most frequent is "The other side of the river". We are fortunate to have good friends that have a private access to the part of the valley that most cannot get to (Because it is on the other side of the Knik River).
Here are some pictures from last year setting up our moose camp for the year, and other random tasks. (Here is a compilation from 2009, its about 10 minutes, with lots of video over music, one of my favorites for sure).
