Lake Mountain to the West Desert

Meat and I wandered out to the West Desert early this month via Lake Mountain on one weekend and through Vernon the next I have combined the two weekends in this little report.

From the top of Lake Mountain you can see the city of Eagle Mountain.

Utah Lake in all its glory on the other side.

After we had kicked around the top of LM we headed out to the West Desert Just in time to get a few shots of the sunset and some of the locals.

We had found a specific location we wanted to explore so we headed back out the following weekend and started where we left off.
This was the first structure we came to.Due to the road being washed out I had to use the lockers in my little Rubicon to get to this point.

Lockers were not an option on this model.

After a very steep climb we decided to stop here due to the ground starting to freeze and becoming slick, The little seldomly traveled road was also getting narrower and there was a good drop off on the driver side.

After burning our lungs up due to the hike and the cold air we made it to an old ore bin that we had seen the weekend before.

The Adits in the area looked unsafe to enter so Meat and I decided not to go in but I may revisit the Idea of Meat going in when we go back.

We were starting to run out of daylight so we tried to get over to Death Canyon before it got dark as you can see we didn't do very well but the good news is we have good reason to get back out to Death Canyon in the day time.

I hope someday I can say I wore out my bed.

On the way out of the Desert the moon was awesome.I just wish the camera was.

I hope the Desert doesn't get too much snow this winter I can't wait to get back out there.

Nice report. I live out in City Center of Eagle Mountain (in the pic). Next time you guys go, and want some company PM me. I've been up Lake Mtn a bajillion times, but have yet to venture out as far as you guys did.
