Hello everyone,

I am a new member here, my father-in-law gave me a 1986 4runner 22RE. I still need to reseal the engine, but it should be done by Memorial Day week end and would like to take it out. I have read about some of the trails in/around Utah County, AF Canyon, rattle snake.......ect. What do you guys think the best starter trail, preferably with camping and maybe room to shoot?

Welcome! For a newbie and being so close just hit up af canyon and try forest lake or hit rattlesnake for a shakedown. Dont get in over your head thinking you can do all lol Keep an eye on here and you will find many groups going out on the weekends and some will welcome the new guys to help you learn your rig and how to make a good line. Alot of good people on here.

Welcome aboard! I'm not a Toyota guy, but you sure can't beat the price of your rig!

I'll echo recommendations for a Forest Lake run up AF canyon since it is close to you. Make sure you take at least one more vehicle with you, though--that's rule #1.

I hope to see you out on some trails.

Is your father in law looking for any more son in laws? Nevermind, I already have one. Nice score though and AF would be best for you. There is camping but I'm not sure about shooting. I'm sure steve will speak up and let you know.

Well curently I am the only one with a 4X4 out of my friends, I was also thinking "lake Mountains"(west side of utah lake). I mostly want to make sure I fixed all the leaks on the engine, the trail time is just a bonus.

I enjoy taking Israel Canyon up to the towers and then down a few miles to the south. If you need someone to tag along just in case let me know. 90% of the trip is in cell range so it's a fairly safe trip if help is needed.
