I blame video games.....lol

It makes as much sense as any other theory here.

But when kids poisen their minds with music that condones this, and spend hours playing games that practice this, what do you expect. Flame away, but you know it is true.

We are told all the time that to get what we want we must first dream about it and plan it. we focus all our energies on our goal. then we acheive it.

So why do those same people that reach goals dismiss the fact that kids spend hours each day filling their mind with violent music and video games. When these kids then get bullied or forgotten, they react.

Dismiss it if ya want, but think about it next time you focus your mind on something, and reach a goal.

The mind is more powerful than we know.

I used to go down to 7-11 and buy candy cigerettes and play with real looking toy guns. I used to play violent video games too when I was a kid. I've never smoked, never been in a fight, never done any drugs or shot anyone.

have you tried to find a realistic looking toy gun lately?

I think we make a big deal out of some little things. It's the parents job to teach right from wrong and I can't help but call BS on the video game/tv violence debate trying to take the accountability away from the parents.

It's a cop out I think. some people are physiologically imbalanced, and some were abused or neglected at a young age and developed some tendencies that require professional help to fix. I don't see video games being at fault here though.

Agreed, and I didn't state the second half in my above post.

These kids need a good ass kickin by the parents to offset all these things.

They need to spend some time in the hills enjoying things, they need to build something, they need to earn some money, they need to do a service project, they need to chop wood they need to play a sport. they need someone to listen and not judge.

you are right Cody, games and music can not be blamed altogether.

I will admit that there are times that I have spend an insane about of time on the internet, and it messes with my perspectives. it takes a day out in the woods or in the shop to re-align my self.

But when kids do nothing more than listen to crappy music, and play violent games, without intervention from parents, friends etc. then yup......its the poisen they fed to the mind that helps trigger these things.

I agree. However I don't think it's the messages contained in the video games, movies, and music that are having the effect on the mind but rather the lack of other enriching activities.

some kids may spend an unnecessary amount of time playing video games and such and not spending enough time interacting with people and things and learning the life lessons and values that video games don't teach but are required to make strong mature people.

holy run on sentence!

I agree with you to a point. That point is that it's the parents job to teach that little brat that what he sees happneing is wrong in real life. There's a difference. Video games are not real life simulators and with a shcitty parent around, they (kids) will learn they are.

I agree with both the above posts (Cannoncrawler, and Cody.) Even though they seem to disagree.

It is the parents that need to be involved in the lives of there kids. But when they are not, and if the person has thoughts of violence, roll playing violent games is great practice for the real thing. Even the military does it.
I don't think playing video games will make you want to kill someone, or death metal will make you want to worship the devil, or porn will make you rape someone. But if your prone to be that way, these things are just fuel on the fire.
So who's job is it to figure out if someone can handle violent games? The PARENTS! The government can't do it, no matter what laws they pass.
Just my .02, I have no formal training, or research to back it up;) .

Everyone keeps talking about how deranged, or "messed up" this killer must have been. I don't think he was either. I think he made a conscious decision to act and then carried it out. No psychoses or separation from reality, but a cold, cruel decision based on his belief system. Just my opinion...

Shhhhhhhhh Cody, don't tell people that, if more parents did their job, I would be out of work;)

It's true though, right?

Yep, it is VERY obvious to me....There are the anomilies on either end, but the majority is traced right back to home.
BUT no matter the up bringing, traumas, history etc, I have NEVER met a person that did not KNOW right from wrong!!!! They KNOW right and wrong, but CHOOSE wrong!! You'd be amazed at the ways people try to justify things, but in the end, the knew....

I once heard a psychiatrist say that a sane person wouldn't commit suicide.
I believe the same rationale applies to murdering others in cold blood. I just can't accept that a person who does something like this is "sane."
If they are "sane" then our world has truly become a very dark place.
