I have a new cable and fairlead. The cable was loaded onto the drum of my XD8000 for about 3 months. It has never pulled anything heavier than the spare tire that I used to tension the line while loading it. The failrlead was also new and does not have any cable marks or rust on it.
I just switched to synthetic rope and no longer need these.
