The comments were being abused and mis-used. Many people thought they were actually Private Messaging people instead of posting publicly viewable profile comments, some of which contained some surprisingly sensitive information.
I have actually seen some of those comments just by randomly clicking on peoples profiles, some real potty-mouth comments too. tsk, tsk.
And yet you didn't realize that they have been gone for nearly a month...

I guess I have enough self esteem to last me at least a month then.
I really don't care that the comments are gone, I just felt as founder of RMEspace I needed to voice my concern.
Oh well, as Tacoma would say; C'est la vie...
