Had the day off today and went out to Rattlesnake / and parts of Constrictor and Sidewinder.

It’s a complete DUST BOWL out there, as expected for the dry year. Driving through Fairfield, I spotted over 5 dirt devils going at the same time as well as a herd of speed goats. There’s all sorts of “powdered sugar” dust patches in the area.

It’s unfortunate but there are a lot of side trails going around the rocky portions of Rattlesnake. My knee jerk assumption is that UTV’s are contributing to this. I know the area is “open” but stupid to see that people are going around these boulder ridden areas.

Wayne’s World seems to have filled in with dirt as well as some other parts are pretty washed out. I’m assuming it was due to the torrential storms we had a few weeks ago.

Was able to test my new shock absorbers and screwed around with the Atlas trying to figure out front digs. Looks like cutting brakes will be in my future at some point.

Seems like 5MP always gets really dusty this time of year.... no real rains and the trails getting pounded into a fine powder.

The TJ looks great... is it an auto or manual? I ran a Atlas in my old TJ with an Auto and could do front digs by just riding the brake a little bit, locking the rear and powering thru the brakes in the front.

It'll be a little harder with a manual, trying to 3-foot it and all... but still possible. Hopefully the front axle is beefy enough to handle it.
HA. No comment. I’m on borrowed time with an HP30. Fun to experiment in the loose stuff, don’t think I’ll be trying that on slickrock.
