New color

Painted it with spray on bed-liner.

Some red shows through but I like it as it gives it a two tone feel when it is in the sun.

Supposed to get bumpers and sliders next week in Montana.

New bumper up front

New bumper up front

The new bumper is fairly simple and allows me to use a receiver winch. I did not want to have the fiddle with a pin behind the bumper so I have the tube sticking out the front. It sticks out a bit more than I expected but I did not want to cut the receiver tube down any just yet.

Now i need to start thinking about what to do for sliders and how to mount up a rear bumper and what I'd like it to look like.

Didn't make it to MT.. I think I will be looking at doing some after my student teaching in November. That may give me some time to practice my welding.. I also need to decide on what I want for my rear bumper. I may just go with another piece of C channel. But we will see. It may all depend on if I get larger tires or not.

the yota isn't going anywhere. I meant in addition to the yota ;)

Back on topic, I'm looking forward to watching this rig grow up.

new rear bumper

Here is what the new rear bumper and flaps look like.

I chose to keep the receiver that was on it before I removed the old bumper because it sits at the same height as the fuel tank and will provide a bit of protection without kipping the back end too much. (If i remember to take the ball out.)

What to do for sliders. I can not justify spending 2-300 for some Bolt on ones.
Does any one have any suggestions like using 3in angle iron and welding that to the bottom of the rockers?

Changed the paint

Had to change the paint color. The black paint just made it soo hot inside and around the vehicle. Plus now It has the paint job to match what people say it looks like. "A lil Tonka Toy. "

I agree but for being on a budget and wanting to spend the extra money on making some kind of protection for my rockers one coat will do. Plus I will not get burned as bad putting my arm out the window. Maybe when I have more time/$$ I will brush the color on and then have my Sister in law do the words again for me. For now it is just my lil tonka toy lol.

I just finished a cheap snow plow for the kick. It only cost me 120 to make from scratch and that includes the cheap 2000 lb winch for raising and lowering it. I ran a piece of tube through the thin walled tube that linked the two front ends of the frame together. I then used the rectangular tube with holes in it to go over the tube. I keep them in with D ring pins. I may add two bars going from the rectagular tube to the top mounting points and cut the top edge to that it ends at the mounting points up top. I will decide after the weekend and it's first use.. My son helped with the welding by holding things for me and flipping the switch for me so he is in the image to show it is off the ground. So Jo, Ut
Looks like it was fun to make!
A couple of thoughts from a seasoned plow driver.. If I may..
You should have some type of cutting blade attached to the bottom of the plow that can wear out and be replaced. You will only get a few pushes on those barrels before they are worn and not working anymore.
There is also going to be a LOT of force on the welds holding the barrels to the arms, Enough that it may just shred the barrel open. Every stupid little crack in the driveway or road becomes a hazard to the plow. Most plows have a few giant springs to allow the plow to fold down in effort to protect plow and truck. Be real easy on the throttle and keep speeds down so you dont smash it up the first time you hit the curb, or crack, or manhole cover, or chunk of ice, or what ever else you can't see...
Have Fun with it!!

It definately is not pretty. After this weekend at work I plan on adding an additional bar from the push tubes to the upper mount points. I also have the old rear bumper I plan to cut stips off of for a wear bar under the barrels. As cash permits I will add a cutting blade for the lip. Tomorrow I am goign to spend two hours making sure I can dismount the plow. My goal when puttin it on was to be able to do so in under ten minutes but the piece I expected to just slide in and out does not do so due to a tight fit. Once I have it back out I will lube it to see if that improves the ability to remove it.

If it fails well I have some material I can use for a fire pit for roasting and what not.

The Tonka now has power steering. I am going to test/work any bugs ou today while delivering pizzas.. The plow has been scrapped and may be picked up again later one but i am focusing on the next update 'd like to make. I am planning on updating the brakes on the rear axel and possibly going to a more powerful mater cylinder and booster. Time to research.
