Riding Adventure bikes in Baja...

I love this! The guys from CJ Designs rode Baja recently, from Phoenix to Cabo and back, some of them 2-up with their girls! I think it's great to see big bikes playing around on the beaches & in the sand. I recognize many of those roads & places from our trips down there. This video really makes me want to ride down there on my 990 Adventure!

I'd give anything to ride Baja on a dual sport. I have in-laws in Pheonix that probably wouldn't mind having a tow rig sitting in their driveway for week or two.

I would love to plan a similar trip, even if it didn't take us all the way to Cabo! Plan on staying indoors, so we're not hauling camping gear, just clothes and tools! There is so much to see, a week would just be a start.

I was invited to go on a ride in April that takes you about 2/3s of the way down Baja. It goes from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific and back. I would need a bigger 4T. It's 1,800 miles

Don't know if any of you guys follow The Ride of My Life on YouTube, but they also did a big tour with 17 bikes, mostly Canadians! Looks like another great ride!

I would love to do a trip down Baja. Just rode 2 up 1,000 miles around North Vietnam on a CRF250 in Nov. Best trip ever!

Ahhh, how fun! I've heard great things about riding in Vietnam! Any chance of posting a bit of a trip report w/ some pics?

those tanks are huge.

Yep... the 990 Adventure Safari Tank is 12 gallons and the Super Enduro Safari Tank holds 8 gallons, IIRC. The DR appears to have a 5 gallon tank. It's 1,100 miles from the border at the top to the bottom at Cabo and gas availability is questionable in many places, especially the backroads. When we were down there we ran across a lonesome gas station that wasn't attended, so being prepared with extra gas is wise. On the road I get 220-240, but if I'm offroad and flogging it, I've seen as little as 130 miles out of a tankful... and thats 5 gallons!

I want one of those tanks for my Adventure, but for the price I could (almost) buy another (cheap) bike! - http://www.justgastanks.com/ktm-950-990-adventure-safari-fuel-tank/

This one is less adventure bikes, more dirt bikes.... but it's a Dana Brown film, so it's excellent!!

I need a KTM 500 EXC with a 5 gallon tank!! :freak:
