roof rack ideas

hey im really wanting to learn how to weld, i did a small amount in school but didnt learn anything, so i figured a good way to learn would be by building a roof rack for my jeep, but i also want it to have clamps for my hi-lift/shovel and maybe an ax and really want them to beable to lock down so they dont just magically disappear like so many things have from me so if your willing please post up some pics or ideas for clamps for holding those things and if you have a good idea for a rack design please add input, thanks alot
