St George camping

Hey does anyone know were you can do some back country car camping in the St George area. I am going to be going down there to do some hiking in the snow canyon area and i don't really want to pay camping fee's.

pull off the side of the road and camp on one of the huge hills in the middle of the city hahaha. There are countless places to camp.

i was hoping 5-10 miles away from snow canyon, i am not sure on the area to well. Is the local law enforcement pretty strict on camping out in the boonies? what about campfires?

I camped by some lake by a giant wall of rock kinda by snow canyon, hope that helps
