Stimulus Story

It is the month of August in a resort town which sits next to the shores of a crystal blue lake. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town.

He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 dollar bill on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.

The hotel proprietor takes the 100 dollar bill and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.

The Butcher takes the 100 dollar bill, and runs to pay his debt to the pig raiser.

The pig raiser takes the 100 dollar bill, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.

The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 dollar bill and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her "services" on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 dollar bill to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 dollar bill back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.

At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes his 100 dollar bill, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town.

No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism .

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is doing business today.

Doesn't that just make you feel all warm & fuzzy?

Except the hotel guy is pissed because he is the only one out $100.00.
How is he out $100? He's actually +$100.

The problem with this analysis is that in our case, that $100 would actually end up being $25 when it's repaid. Every person along the way will have to take their cut...because this is America afterall and we all need to make money.

Wrong, he gave his $100.00 back to the tourist, he is still owed $100.00 and no one to pay him back.

Why is he owed $100? No services were rendered. The tourist walked in to check out the rooms and left because none were good enough taking his money with him. If the tourist had stayed then sure, he would be out $100.

Read the story, the hooker owes him $100.00.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 dollar bill to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The butcher, thinking ahead, put the $100 in the bank for a rainy day. No one else get's paid, and the hotel guy has to explain to the rich tourist why his $100 disappeared. In his understandable anger, the tourist reports the hotel to the local tourism board and the BBB, files civil suit to reclaim his lost $100, and badmouths the entire resort town as being dishonest and unreceptive to tourists. Due to the loss of tourist dollars and the cost of the civil suit, the hotel proprietor has to close shop. The butcher, having lost his largest client, uses up his $100 savings on rent to house his family and then gets evicted and moves to another city to try and find greener pastures. The pig farmer in turn loses his biggest customer, and is forced into dire straights of his own. The supplier of feed and fuel, also closes shop and heads to the city to try and survive off of government subsidized housing and welfare programs. Business booms for the prostitute and the local tavern....miraculously.

This is how the US works ;)

But, there is a bright spot. The pig farmer, faced with potential hardship and unemployment, actually discovers an incredible recipe for thick-cut peppered bacon. He is able to sell this amazing bacon online to aficionado’s world wide gaining him great wealth. Due to his wealth, he meets and woos a beautufil young prostitute from town and marries her, and they live happily and heftily (due to the bacon) ever after.

Not that hard, the hotel guy was in the hole $200.00. He paid the butcher $100.00 so he is still down $100.00 because the hooker owed him $100.00 which he didn't keep because he handed it back to the tourist.

Technically he's in the same spot as he was before. Before the tourist, he was -100 on the butcher, and +100 on the slut which = 0. When the tourist came in, he was +100 in cash, -100 to the tourist, +100 on the slut, and -100 on the butcher......which also = 0.

Fortunately for this utopian little town, everyone's debt's were equal and everyone behaved predictably within a system. This might work in Communism, but not in America.

Wrong, the hooker owed him $100.00 for the huge sex mess she made in her room which he had his maids clean up. He had to pay them $100.00 for their labour and the $100.00 he received for payment from the hooker slipped right back to the tourist. Oh, he wasn't +100.00 on the slut, he was -100.00. If he kept the money from the tourist then everyone would be happy in the town, (except the tourist of course)
