Stretched wheel base steering question

You guys are the masters in Utah so I'm reaching out for some clarity I couldn't find elsewhere.

When you move the front axle forward a couple inches What would be the downside of leaving the steering box in the same place/ not moving it forward?

That all depends on if your drag link clears all your other suspension components/ differential... What kind of rig are you asking about?

I had to move my steering box forward so my drag link and tie rod didn't cross like scissors during up travel. If you are lifted high enough to keep the steering links from crossing, you might be OK???

100% depends on the setup and angles you currently have.
