suburban tailgate to double doors

I have an 82 suburban that has a rear tailgate with a power window in it that is giving me problems. Im wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to get rid of the tailgate and put the double doors back there. any info would be greatly appreciated.

It can and has been done. Check out ColoradoK5.com. It's a lot more work than you'd think on a GM, though.

I did it once and it wasn't to bad. It has been about 7 years and I can't remember everything but it required a little welding but not much and the holes were there already for the hinges.

hey i happen to have a good pair of suburban barn doors off a 79 burban. im parting out the vehicle to cover the cost of buying it for its motor etc, so make me an offer if you want them. in fact you can come and cut off mounts and anything else you need for the project.

if your interested i have a brand new in box tailgate, will fit your burb, from lmc truck i would love to have out of my garage make an offer. not sure but it seems like i bought brand new seals for the glass inside and out ,maybe. ill look tommorrow but id through those in with...
