After all of the hassle...it turns out that I had a faulty switch relay! A $12.00 fix!

Do you know the exact relay (name)?

Somehow I need to remember this for the future as it will surely happen to someone else.

the "exact name"

As far as I know it is called the fuel system switch relay. It is located in the fuse box under the hood. It looks like a big, black, fuse, but with 5 prongs which get pugged in. The under-side of the fuse box lid has a diagram with the names on it of what each fuse or switch relay is for (at least mine does).

The same thing happened to a freinds XJ last weekend I had to tow him out of the longest trail around. Of coarse it died at the top(end) of the trail.
