TJ D44 short side?

its a TJ REAR d44 with a detroit locker

How much shorter is it?

Can the short side be used on the long side to get your butt off the trail?

It's only a little bit shorter--like 1/2" or something. I think you could probably use it in a pinch, but I'd want to compare a pair of them side-by-side before I guaranteed that answer. Even if it does work, you'd need to be careful you didn't strip out the splines from the side gear of your Detroit due to not enough spline engagement.
