U4WDA Spring Trail Ride in St George 5/6

Our annual Spring Trail Ride will be held in St George on May 6, 2006. There will be a good mix of fun and challenging trails around the St George area. Following the trail ride, the local club will sponsor a steak and dutch oven 'tator dinner from 3:30 to 7:30. Details will be available at the morning meeting spot. Donations will be accepted by the local club to cover the cost of dinner.

When and Where
For Milt's Mile, Slip Lock, and West Rim Trail, meet at Nisson Foodtown at 45 North Main in Washington, Utah (just north of St George on I-15). This is right at Main and Telegraph. For those in need of supplies, please support the store for letting us use their facility. Please arrive early, we will be leaving at 9:00 AM sharp!

For Skull Canyon meet at 9:00 AM sharp at the City Park on 200 North and State in Cedar City. Take the Center Street exit in Cedar City and head east to City Park.

Trails
Milt's Mile: Rated a 3 1/2 and has bypasses.
This trail starts near Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane and ends in the middle part of the sand dunes. This is one of the shorter trails and can take about 4 hrs depending on group size. So with this trail there will be a sweet sand dune run included. This is a fun yet challenging trail it has some washes and off camber climbs as well as very nice views of the area.

Slip Lock: Rated a 4 and has bypasses.
This trail is a challenging wash with waterfalls and undercuts with soft sand and ledges. Challenging for most vehicles but definitely a fun trail. This trail also ends and begins with some sand. At the beginning of Slip Lock there with be a fun warm up run over one of the many fault lines in the area with some off camber and real steep climbs and down grades. There are some spots for wheel lift and a testing of your suspension travel.

West Rim Trail: Rated a 3
This is a more scenic yet fun and challenging trail that most stock vehicles can do, depending on the driver. This trail is along the edge of the Cliffs overlooking St George and surrounding areas. This trail passes through a Rock Garden with some fun adventures that are more challenging to keep even the experienced and well built rig busy. This trail ends at the Bowl on the Main part of the sand dunes.

Skull Canyon: For those who wanted a Buggy worthy trail this is it.
This trail is in CEDAR CITY! For those that want to stay in Cedar City Friday night and wheel Saturday this is the trail. If you plan on staying in St. George there will be some locals from there driving to Cedar City in the morning and you can caravan with them. This is a trail for rigs with 35" or larger tires and at least 2 lockers. Please note that the meeting place for this trail is at the City Park in Cedar City (see information above under When and Where).

Looking forward to a good turn out. I would be interested in how many are showing up for dinnner but as far as the trail run. The more the better. As far as a full size on Skull Canyon you should be just fine.

Ummmm........I'm gonna have a hard time missing the dutch oven dinner. Good stuff!!!!

So is there trail 'registration' or anything, or do we just show up? I'd also like to let someone know we plan on hanging around for chow. I'm sure it'd be nice to have a number for planning reasons.

tell me more about slip lock. I've never done any of the st. george trails, but you've captured my interest! How long is it? I don't want to drive all the way to st. george and find a "rattlesnake" type trail

I'll show ya how to get there and charter you a ride out of there when you break YOUR S***. You will really enjoy it.

The only reason that you will even be out there is because you would have broke down before me, but, sigh I can't even give you a ride since I only have 2 seats:rofl:

You can do that... It's pretty easy, though, just head south on I15. St George/Cedar City are both right on the freeway. Other than the area, I have no idea where to go...Street names, etc..

There will be 2 of us for dinner! We'll come down friday evening and leave for home sunday...
