Looking for a place for the NAXJA IC crowd to camp in September. Headed up to the Uintas to find some cooler weather.

Started out heading to Lym Lake. This is a small little lake that used to be almost a challenge to get to but when we went up the FS decided that the creek crossing wasn't nessesary anymore and bulldosed the road in :mad2:

Like a dummy I didn't get any pics of the lake but after we ate lunch there we headed up to Elizabeth Ridge to the lookout over The west fork of the Blacks fork river.

This is the road heading up to the ridge overlook

Finally to the overlook. At 10,400 feet.

Looking into the West Fork Canyon

We could see that the river was quite high so we decided to see if we could cross it or not. So down off the ridge we went to head up WF canyon.

The creek crossing. The water wasn't running too fast but it was deep. All these jeeps are running at least 8 inchs of lift and the hoods are up to my chest just to understand how deep the water was.
Badgers comming back.

Here is where things got interesting...With XJ4moabs jeep and mine with snorkels we decided to see if they could really handle deep water. Unfortunaly we both also suck at taking pictures so nither of us got it when the water was actually over the hoods :D

Both rigs survived with only a small amount of moisture in the airboxes and wet carpets.

After this we headed back to town via Meeks Cabin road and out through Sulfer Creek Rez and highway 150.

All in all it was a good day.

well kindof...we came home early the next morning :D
This is kind of funny. While we were looking at our airboxes I realized why my gas milage has been in the toilet. My K&N was so plugged that there is no way it was getting much air through it.
So I decided when I got back to Evanston I was just going to pull it out. While I was getting gas( at 1:00AM) I pulled it out, got back in the jeep and no start. It would start rev up to 1500 RPM and quit....thought I might have got the computer wet...After half an hour screwing around I found that when I took the air cleaner out I knocked a wire of the ignition ballast resistor :D
Plugged it back in and we were off...Got home about 3AM

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I couldn't help but notice your avatar wording. Were you ever active duty, and did you spend a year in that one place where the Juvats and the Pantons battled?? KENNETH !!
