USDTV - Anyone tried it?

Thinking about trying it out for 19.95 a month. Anyone have it now and if so, how do you like it? I called them and they said if I didn't like it, I could get out of the contract if it's not over 30 days.

I won't sign a contract for TV, never have for my cable, satellite or anything else so that's been keeping me from trying it. I hate spending $60+ a month on TV so it's been very tempting to get it in the past.

Hey Joe, I think you need another Jeep instead of TV ;)

Funny guy... -_- :D I did get something but it's not a Jeep. :D

I think extra receivers are 4.95 or something like that. I don't know. Does Comcast still do the basic "basic" non-digital cable anymore? I couldn't find anything on their website about it.

how much per?

I can't remember if it's $10 or $5 per......... Even at $5 per, it added up to over what Comcast charges for our house (of course, we seem to have a TV EVERYWHERE---quite a few came with the house)

comcast does do what they call limited basic. only a few channels nothing fancy, we got it because it costs the same for comcast highspeed internet with or without the cable. the limited cable is $12.00 a month or something like that, and i get a $10.00 per month discount on my internet for having cable. i was interested in the USDTV but i just dont want to pay for tv. we watch enough tv as it is i dont need any reason to watch anymore.

Hmm... $12.00 bucks a month sounds good. What channels are in this limited basic? We don't watch much tv and this is why we are exploring cheap ways to get it. The antenna in the attic doesn't seem to be cutting it anymore. Depending on the time of day, the picture goes from crystal clear to fuzzy lines through it.
Maybe I'll just pick up the phone and call Comcast.

Thanks for all the help.

if I remember correctly it's all the same channels with USDTV and then some. Just becareful not to take the filter off your cable line if you get it, cause if you do, you might accidentally get all the channels (HBO included)

Got it and it sucks. They said it was HD, it's not. The installer did the absolute worst job of routing the cable I've ever seen. First. Instead of drilling a simple hole and going outside through the wall of the room the TV was in, the installer decided to rout the cable to the ceiling, down the door frame, under the door, up the doorframe, along the hall, throught the top of another door in such a way the door cannot be closed, across the ceiling and through the window with a window strip, then it continues across the wall (diagonally) to the antenna on the front of the house. On top of all this, the x box, stereo reciever, and dvd player are on the right side of the TV and the freaking installer put the USDTV reciever on the left side and didn't give enough slack to move the reciever to the right! A call to customer service did nothing so it's up to me to install the cable right. However instead of that I'm just going to rip it out and we're cancelling the subscription.

Yeah, I think I'm going to bag the USDTV idea. The few reviews I could find on it weren't all that encouraging.

limited basic comcast is nothing more then locals, tbs, discovery, and fx. I think usdtv has more channels.
depends on your area, I know my bro has limited basic and has qutie a few channels. I also had it at one point a few years ago and had quite a few channels as well, I had more than my brother does, I was in Magna and he's in Midvale...different areas have different line-ups.

that's comcast basic, not limited basic. They do have a package for $12, with nothing else. My brother has it right now. Limited Basic has a few less channels than the basic package does.

meat, if you call comcast and ask them for the limited basic package you will only pay $12.00 a month for it without any other services, no packages needed. but it still counts as a cable package so you can get the $10.00 discount on the internet service.

so basicly i pay $2.00 a month for the discovery channel, tv land(cant get enough sanford and son) and the travel channel is pretty cool.
