My dad's PowerJoke had issues going into 4WD with his vacuum hubs. Even locked, they wouldn't go in.
They've also got the 8 on 170 mm bolt pattern vs. the 8 on 6.5" pattern of traditional 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

If you pull the hub apart and puncture the liner the vacuum will not function so it is only activate by the turning the hub.
I can't remember exactly how we did it but I think if you put the spring on the other side of the gear in the hub your hubs now will act like a slug with no possibility of unlocking.
