I've got a 99 TJ that's in need of a new rear end. Thinking the dana 44 out of a rubicon would do the trick or if there are any other suggestions please let me know as I'm a noob when it comes to axles.

A Ford 8.8 would be a good option. They are much easier to find and cheaper. Same bolt pattern and '95 and up come with disk brakes and the e-brake cables will fit right on. You will however need new brackets as stated. Also you have to remember that the 8.8 uses a c-clip to hold the shaft in similar to the dana 35 but you can buy c-clip eliminator kits I believe. If you need someone to fab it up let me know. I've done a couple of these swaps and they go pretty easy.
