So I found a good deal on this winch. Of course it is broken, needs a new motor. A quick ebay search tells me a new motor will run me $100 or so. Checked the Warn site and they have exploded views of the winch. doesn't look bad. The question is can I easily replace the motor myself? Or should I forget it and buy something new? looking for real life experience from someone who has done it.

For reference of mechanical skills, I have done all my lift, steering, swapped t-cases etc.

The motor only takes a few minutes to swap out, very easy. When you go to get the new motor bring the serial number with you. When my motor went out on my xd9000 I went to six states for a new one. I ended up getting it for free because of some kind of recall from Warn. There is a book they use to look up the serial number to see if it qualifies. Good luck.
