Well the Bars around here. ONLY serve beer, Clubs require memberships and serve liqour as well as beer. Depends on whether you want to go to a big crowded noisy Club or a smaller more chilled out place.

I grew up in upstate NY... and I can say that you kind of get used to the UT swill. Some of the local breweries make some pretty good beer for 3.2. Also, you get to enjoy status as a drinking superhero as local beer has only 1/2 the alcohol so you can drink twice as much LOL

Personally, I go to the damn State stores, and/or bring back a sh*tload of cases when I visit home. And I just got a bigger van. :greg:

Hmmm well only places around here I have really been are

Do Drop Inn, small OLD bar, smell of smoke, 4 pool tables. Beer Only. Thats at the top of Hillfield RD. Around the corner from there is Linda Lou's Membership Required, has liquor and beer 4 or 5 pool tables.

Good Times down by Walmart, I think its just a bar only been there a few times but it also has pool tables.

Bogey's in Clearfield would be the BIG rowdy Club. Need membership, tons of People dancing, pool table's, food alcohol and beer.

Or just make a trip to Evanston. Or maybe you could get Badcop to pick you up some beers from Hill AFB. (been awhile not sure of there selection but it is HIGH point) Then just find someone around here with a pool table.

You bring the good beer, and I've got the pool table. :D

On a side note, I prefer to drive to Wendover to bring in my beer. It's a little further than Evanston, but the discount liquor outlets in Nevada are cheaper than Wyo. Also, I can hang out in the casinos for a coupla hours and get my gambling fix.

On microbrews: Utah is blessed with some of the finer microbreweries you will find anywhere. The reason is that they are so strictly regulated, having to keep their beer under 4.0, that they are not able to mask imperfections in the beer with a raised alcohol content. This requires them to be very accurate with their brewing processes and use the finest ingredients.
I drink beer because I like it, not because of the alcohol content. If you're after nothing but a buzz, there's a lot of easier ways to get it.

Try out Iggy's, near the Layton Hills Mall. They have real drinks, and good beer, you'll just have to buy an appetizer with it.

Yuengling!

america's oldest beer. I take it you've lived in the East at some point?

side note: One of Yuengling's old competitors, Neuweiler, has an old abandoned brewery in Allentown PA that I stop and walk around in. It's pretty neat, classic old building, tile fermentation rooms, big bags of hops still in the 5th floor coolers, etc..

Lumpys has a nice sit down area that you can get some decent drinks at. They have three sections, dance downstairs, the chill area upstairs and one other that I never went in.

It's on about 3100 S and Highland drive in SLC.
