i've done a considerable amount of welding with both hobart and miller welders. i'd buy the hobart out of the two listed. not that the miller isn't a great machine, i just liked using the hobart more.

Millers are nicer welders, no question about that. However, comparing a 175 welder to a 210 for the same cost, I'd lean very heavily to the 210. I can't say that I would definitely get the 210 without seeing both first hand. Hobarts are good welders, just not as nice as Millers.

ok, that is what i thought. the hobart is abigger welder, i just didnt know how they performed. but this is good to know.

so 699 is not a bad deal than?

I have a hobart 175 & I have been real happy with it.
most of the parts on mine are miller parts. my gun has miller stamped right on it.
I dont know if all hobarts are like that?

That's because Hobart's are made by Miller. Hobart is the "consumer" line while Miller is the "industrial" line. There are many parts on the miller that are nicer, such as the dial (infinite voltage/linespeed control vs. presets).

Kudos for going with a 220v machine. :)
You won't be sorry.

Personlly, I'm a Miller man but I don't think the Hobart would be a bad machine either. I have a Millermatic 252 and love it!

Good luck.
