what are "twin sticks"

hey all!
new to the board, kinda stumbled upon it from another site
i saw a cool pic from this site of a swamped fj40, cool
it was up to the glass is a river!(no paddle either)

so anyways i was just wondering about the twin stick thing,
what are they for ? how do they work?
do i need em?
where do i get them? or how do i make em?
thanx for any replies!

Isn't kinda one of those things that if you have to ask then you probably don't need them?

twin sticks--i assume you are refferring to t-case twin sticks a la atlas II which allow you to select hi and lo range gearing on your front and rear axle independently. i.e. front wheel drive 2 lo, etc. Good for maneuvering and all kinda fancy tricks on the trail.
