What purpose does this plunger serve? I was having idle problems when warm and before that I had to keep adjusting the idle. I moved the set screw on the cam out until it barely touches this plunger and it fixed everything. I thought it was for cold idle but it actually idles higher now when cold. I was going to replace it but didn't know what to ask for or if it really does anything plus the screws are stripped. Thanks

That looks like the dashpot. It's purpose is to prevent backfiring out the exhaust by slowing the return travel of the throttle to idle. The plunged is connected to the bellows that force air out of an office and finally through a piece of tubing connected to a dangly little filter.

So I guess I will leave it as I have now since I don't get any backfiring. I know on my 3RZ it is different with a vacuum line connected and this one has nothing connected to it. Thanks
