What happens when the flight controls jam

Just when you thought your day was bad. This happened in Idaho at a fire camp. Acording to the pilots the controls locked up as they were taking off in the forward direction. They nosed over untill the blades hit rolling them to the side. The pilots both lived but I'm shure they need new pants
