Where are they now?

In thinking about this year's SuperCrawl I have begun to reflect on competitions past and the competitors who started this sport. From what I have found the first "Rockcrawling Competition" was held in November of 1998 in Las Cruces New, Mexico and was sanctioned by Bob Hazel's Sports in the Rough. What we now know as RCAA held their first event in September of 1999 in Farmington, with Sports in the Rough holding another event in November of '99 in Johnson Valley.

I have been looking at some old articles and have started to wonder what happened to some of the "old" timers. Some of them are still around but some of them have dropped off the face of the Earth.

Here is a list of the top 10 from RCAA's first event:

1. Shannon Campbell (still competing)
2. Dan Dunaway (drove a yellow jeepster last year, haven't heard much of him lately)
3. Steve Rumore (Operating Avalanche Engineering and Ranch, I think he last competed in 2001 in the Assassin)
4. Rich Hudson (Still running RCAA)
5. Jeff Waggoner (Driving the Fire Ant in RCAA)
6. Ian Liljeblad (Competed last year, haven't heard much of him lately)
7. Rod Pepper (Hasn't competed since at least 1999)
8. Ken Shupe (Still competing)
9. Chris Durham (Still competing)
10. Ned Bacon (I think he competed in the Kremmling Krawl last year, but has become a proponent against events being held on public land)

Here is a list of the top ten from the November 1999, Sports in the Rough event. I can't find these gusy first names, so some of them I have no idea who they are:

1. Meyers (drove a Sniper, but I have no idea who he is)
2. Rumore (Avalanche dude, again in a Sniper)
3. Ristau (No idea, but I'm sure he's not competing anymore)
4. Patton (see above)
5. Bunch (Jason Bunch, still competing)
6. Gremillion (competed last year in an IFS/IRS conglomeration, but haven't heard anything from him this year)
7. Yoder (I think this guy's first name is Kevin and he may compete in CalROCS)
8. Hawkins (Kevin, about to kick some Super Stock butt in the SuperCrawl)
9. Currie (Competed last year, but not this year. Might have sold the Fire Ant to Jeff Waggoner or maybe he's just borrowing it)
10. Stump (No idea, but I'm sure he's not competing anymore)

So what do you guys think?

The Currie TJ, which Hawkins will be driving this weekend:

I think that Currie TJ is the only rig that was used in those early events that is still competing.
