Need referrals for a person/shop that can build a frame for a teardrop.

I really want to build a teardrop that can handle moderate off-roading (more than just washborded roads, but not climbing boulders), and being hauled across the country at 80mph.

I still might make the teardrop out of wood, but I'd like to see if I can swing it in a metal/steel frame first.

We do!

In fact we have a bare 5x10 teardrop chassis in stock right now...ready to outfit and finish as you see fit! 2x3" box steel frame, 3500lbs solid axle on offroad leaf springs, tongue box set up for power, 5x5" hubs with brakes and set up for up to 35-37" tires!
