Winch motor short?

well its official ive killed 3 Red Top optimas in 9 months :confused: i havent done a draw test yet but is it possible that my winch is draining my battery when the controller is not plugged in? once i get a new batt tomorrow i will check but i was curious if anyone has had this happen to them. its a Mile Marker 12k thats about 4 years old

First of all Optimas are not blessed by the hand of god, frankly they suck.
Using a multimeter, test the current draw with the jeep off. Deeply discharging any battery will ruin it after a while. Also test your voltage regulation. If you don't want to remove it and take it to autozone to test it, you could disconnect the battery with the jeep running and check the voltage at the alternator, it should be around 14.4v, if it goes much higher it'll hurt a battery.

Any thing is possible. Best thing to do is a draw test and see if anything weird is going on. If it is start unplugging things till you find the problem.
