I've also got a midland I thought was broken but now I think it was just my mic. I have it plus a new mic you can have for free if you can make it up this way.

It'll receive signal just fine, but it won't transmit. I swapped the mic and it fixed the problem, but now it's not working anymore.

when it comes to antennas, I STRONGLY recommend getting a k30 magnetic mount antenna.
