But stuck more often.
WTF is in the water down there... :ugh:

Fish! And lots of it! :D

Not real sure how I feel about this one. We can all stand around the coffee pot and complain, or as the Constitution demands, we can, and should do something about it. I guess this is their way of doing something about it. This wouldn't be the first time it's been done before.

Alaska is about the only state that can say they dont need the federal government, at least in a financial capacity.

Don't get me wrong. If the Tyrannical Gov comes knocking on my door demanding my weapons, they will get them, just not the end they're anticipating. Then again, by the time they get to my house, I'm certain they will be anticipating it...lol

I believe there is a place and scenario where "Taking up arms to replenish the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants... " etc. I just don't think that we are anywhere near that scenario right now. I don't think we're in the same planetary system as that scenario.

That being said, I do have my SHTF stash... but again, its a matter of maintaining hope for the best, while preparing for the worst. The tricky part is balancing those two notions IMO.

I do agree it's about time for another revolution and put the republic back in... Govt. just keeps growing and taxing and going further and further into debt. They need to be stopped.

...Just sayin... :)

So a second civil war is a good idea?

I don't think we are even remotely close to that point.

What I find somewhat interesting about this article, is that I cannot find an actual link to a website that has anything to do with a militia up here... yet it seems, there is more activity from them up here than most places...hmmmm

Welp... I read on AR-15.com that Alaska has the highest (per-capita) rate of Class3 permits, and registered "Tactical" style rifles in the country..... Maybe there is something to that...

I own land in Nikiski, I've never heard of any form of militia down there... Hey Tony! wanna buy some land? It's real nice.

4th post is a doozie!

States' rights don't extend to depriving some of their citizens of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or holding that some of them are not equal. :D And while it was not the sole issue, slavery WAS a major point of contention in that conflict. I think it was Louisana or Alabama? that named the disagreement about it as their reason for war in their declaration of same-- I could be mistaken though, it's been a while since I was reading on this.

If the original gov't didn't make slaves "citizens" to begin with, then to which "citizens" are you referring? Even with that argument, there was no justification for disallow them from leaving, even if they wanted to free the slaves before or after the cession.

But you can do a great many evil things as long as you believe that the ends justify any means whatsoever...

I should have perhaps called them "residents"? ;) As to allowing secession, I'd have to read up on the process, and the arguments for or against allowing a nation to break up. It seems to me that a federal authority might have some interest in disallowing that. You have me curious now, I don't know that I've ever heard anything directly dealing with that issue, just the efforts that went into NOT allowing it-- no philosophical, legal, or other debates about the rationale. :D What is involved in becoming part of a United States, or a Soviet Republic, or Canada? Hmm.

Now there is an excellent question. I absolutely agree that it was in the government's best interest to not allow a state to leave the union but what sort of "union" is it if the joining and remaining a part of it is not voluntary? Sounds a lot like slavery... which is an evil institution indeed, in all it's forms.

The only problem I see with our Constitution is not having term limits. Our founding fathers never visualized that some one would want to be a professional politician when home, family and friends were so dear to them. Now politicians spend all their time trying to get re-elected instead of watching over their state and the country. As far as States Rights go we still have them but it is easier to get re-elected if you take other peoples money and give it to someone that votes for you. The states have to be represented in congress by those we elect. If they are there to only represent themselves there will be no States Rights. We the voters could turn this around but there seems to be no concerted will to do so. We don't have a King that will do good for all the people when he is a good King we have Kings that get elected every year. We are stampeding toward a socialist, not my fault/problem, do it for me country. Remember the Constitution/Country is only as good as we are. If the government takes away our freedom to FAIL (bail outs, health & welfare insurance) we loose our freedom. I got a little carried away but you get the idea.
