It's only been 3.5 years, come on now :)

I switched body shops two months ago and am in final paint next week, then I just need a shop space big enough to park that aircraft carrier in so I can finish it

@Greg - Stop buying cool things you don't need and teach @Noahfecks how to post pics. STAT!:p That GTO sounds pretty OK!

And yes, I buy way (way, way...) too many "cool" things that I don't need too.

Not to hijack Greg's engine thread.... But yes, please post pics of the GTO and the '54 in a new thread. I have a '49 GMC and have sourced the 5.3 for it. It goes in the garage as the next project as soon as I finish the garage project.

Greg, I too, appreciate you buying cool things. It seems to be a sickness that I try to keep under control. Is it bad that I go to a wrecking yard and want to bring things home like most people go to the pound and want to save all the animals.

I think I've found a use for one of the engines that will kill two birds with one stone. Came across a '95 GMC Sierra 2500 with the NV4500 for a good deal, it has a 350 (TBI, gutless really), NP241 t-case (?) and a semi-float 14 Bolt. It has the same updated (for a '95) body style and interior of the '98 GMC Sierra that I built awhile ago. I like that body style and look.

I'm thinking about picking up the truck as a tow rig and eventually swapping the Isuzu 4BD1T into it, with a larger turbo and run a Dodge intercooler. That setup should be good for 400+ ft/lbs and 25 MPG w/o a load. I would imagine it would still pull down around 20 MPG towing a trailer, which is damn respectable. Really will depend on gear ratio, average MPH & RPM's, etc. Still, low-buck diesel tow rig that is simple, reliable, built with quality components... should ride good, be cheap to insure and last a long time. It would be nice to upgrade the interior & seats with something newer/better. Factory leather bucket seats from a newer GM truck would be great.

I really think it would be neat, the 3/4 ton would have a thicker frame than the 1/2 ton that I built up, which would make for a better hauler. Set it up with air bags out back, perhaps raise the front just enough to fit 285's for lower cruising RPM and call it good! It won't be as new as the pickups I was looking at for towing, but that's OK.

Picked up a complete long block 5.3 out of a 2001 truck with 220k miles on it for $200 last week. This will be a donor for the rotating assembly and other misc. small parts I need for the L33 block. It was running fine when pulled, but was showing low oil pressure.

I will sell off the parts I don't need, like the block, heads, oil pan, etc.
