I'll take every $3k 47k mile 12V you can find and offer you a $3k finders fee per vehicle too! :D



While the price is absurd to most/all, there are determined folks that gladly pay insane prices for true low mile vehicles. A FZJ80 with 250k mile may be $2500, 50k miles and it would sell for $65k+. I suspect there are some 12V aficionados that are equally as determined.

Not just any Corvair, a Yenko Stinger!
Corvairs are really the only American vehicles from that era that interest me. Engineering marvels for their time,

Agreed. Modern VWAG products are fantastic right up to the point they need maintenance. Then you just want to light them on fire and walk away

Corvairs are where Don Yenko got his start. He was tired of racing fat Corvettes and losing to Cobra's. So he tuned the hell out of Corvairs and voila! The Yenko Stinger was born and he was quite successful in SCCA racing with them. But it was the Yenko Camero's that really put him on the map.

I may have known that at some time but he and Baldwin-Motion kind of started the whole COPO thing with Chevrolet (maybe they just noticed they could order cool stuff and other dealers didn't?) . Legendary cars for sure and rare authenticated units are insanely priced for something that's not fun to drive except in a controlled environment due to the value.

Yenko was definitely a force behind the whole COPO thing in the late '60's. He convinced Chevy to allow him to order a Camero with a 427 in it so he wouldn't have to do the engine swap anymore.

Legendary cars for sure and rare authenticated units are insanely priced for something that's not fun to drive except in a controlled environment due to the value.

Which is part of the reason why I get more excited Honda Civic-esq vehicles than Ferrari's. I (John Q Public) can easy get ahold of a Civic, even a "hot" version like a Type-R. Ferrari's and the like are boring to me because while I've driven some exotics, I'll never be in a position to own one. And even if I could, its not a fun car to drive day to day.

That's what's fun about Dempsey's Grand Prix. It's just a fun car that any of us could replicate and enjoy

True enough. I know there are faster cars on the road, but the GP is so much fun in a brutal, visceral way that modern cars just cannot duplicate thanks to all their onboard safety systems. There is something about piloting a car which could kill you at any moment if you stop respecting it that gets your blood pumping.

Back to the topic of this thread:

I really, really, really want a Fiero. I almost bought one yesterday until I found out it was an automatic.
