I've owned my truck for almost a year now, but I'm fairly new to the site. I thought I would post up and get some local opinions and support.

I didn't know a lot about toyota's before owning this truck and when I first bought it I thought I had a decent platform. I guess it was a start but I want this rig to be very capable and not very problematic...
Here's a few pics of when I first bought it, and the very weak flex shot.

The engine is running good, i had it running last Saturday and was able to time it with a timing light. No leaks so far, which i'm not used to. It's nice to have it driving again, should have the rear shocks mounted soon. i'm also starting to heavily consider rear discs.

just out of curiosity, why are you thinking rear discs? I've seen a lot of people swap to them, but I'v never seen the need. The stock drums have always been good to me, and I love having an e-brake.

i don't know if the replacement wheel cylinders i'm getting from autozone are good quality, but my passenger side one leaks and i've replaced it twice, the first time i did both sides..
I also bought a fj80 brake master from them and now i'm debating on going back to the original one or getting a larger diaphragm brake booster. My stopping distance is garbage.

I'm not sure how to tell if it is or not... The arm on it is broken and has been pushed up.
I want to find a dual diaphragm booster though to give it a little softer pedal.

I installed a booster out of a 93 4runner

Since I had the brake lines un hooked, I also decided to fix what I thought was the rear passenger wheel cylinder leaking. It turned out to be gear oil, so my dad and I changed the seals in the rear axle.

I got my shocks mounted up, they didn't turn out quite how i wanted. They interfere with the e brake cable a little but my brakes aren't dragging, i just worry about the shocks cycling and jerking the cable. I'm probably going to re do them while the bed is off.

wow those shocks look way too long for the application (like the bumpstops have 8 inches of travel and the shocks have 3). Are you going to push the mounts up into the bed for more travel?
