    Stretched wheel base steering question

You guys are the masters in Utah so I'm reaching out for some clarity I couldn't find elsewhere. When you move the front axle forward a couple inches What would be the downside of leaving the steering box in the same place/ not moving it forward?

Miller Motorsports Park 2011 Plans and Schedule

Looks good, to bad I'll be in boot camp for most of the events. Is the rock coarse open to anyone when there is not a scheduled even?

    Jeep Steering upgrade ?

haha. So the proper description of the end cap would be I taped out the shape of a star, painted the cap green and removed the tape reveling the shape of the star in the bare aluminum that resided below. I then put a clear coat over the hole cap to protect my crafty design, which ended up...

    Jeep Steering upgrade ?

So I thought I would give some closer to this thread. I ended up attempting to rebuild the gear box. In studying for this I found a lot of people are negative about this because if its not done right you're just throwing time and money away. I felt like I was up to the challenge and willing to...

    decreasing sammy lift

Spring under is the way to go, the ride is smoother. I have some FJ axles if you want to try that route. $100 for the set. Send me a PM if you want them.

    Jeep Steering upgrade ?

Good point about getting one from the yard. I'm hoping there is a steering box that is stronger than stock that is a common conversion. With a locker in front, 36" tires and a 3" drop pitman arm I'm afraid a rebuilt box will not hold up for very long.

    Jeep Steering upgrade ?

I have a 74 CJ6 with an 86 grand wagoneer power steering gear box that has bit the dust, oil flows out the bottum like a leaky fauset. Does anyone know of an upgraded box that would work? Say from a full size pickup or something like that.

    Dana 44 power transfer Loss

Spent most of the day working on it and I'm almost back to the point where I started. The pinion is set and has less than a 1/32" movement, I've destroyed one bearing for the carrier and discovered that the carrier I just reinstalled the lockrite into is the wrong one. Does anyone know what the...

    Dana 44 power transfer Loss

Thought I would share a picture of what the old pinion looks like. You can see the gear is completely smooth and the heat marks going up the shaft.

    Slipping lock right

I just reinstalled a lockrite in a dana 44 and it went real smooth. I put a little bit of grease on the springs (suggestion from another site) and used a small flat screw driver to help put the springs in. Took about 1/2 hour to completely install into the carrier once everything was cleaned up...

    Dana 44 power transfer Loss

Awesome! Thanks for the pointers. I've been thinking about about putting the wheels back on without the axle shafts and driving it to a shop to let them set up the gears but I'll give it a good go first.

    Dana 44 power transfer Loss

Thanks. Its nice to have all this help. The gears muddyjeep had are going to work just fine. All I need to do is put them in. I've decided to do it myself with some help from a neighbor. Any pointers are welcome.

how many lift blocks needed for a samurai?

X2 When you're ready to go with bigger tires, then do a SPOA. Your rig looks good and will probably wheel pretty good the way it is. Short wheel bases don't need a lot of lift. For my 2 cents on putting a body lift on a samurai - DO NOT!
