Axle gearing is the cheapest mod and you have to do it eventually for bigger tires. So I'd do that first. Instead of a doubled. Have you looked into the Stak Monster 3-Speeds. That's what I want to get. They even have one 5:44 to 1 low range.

Love the EathRoamers but the price I do not. Makes it hard to justify one.

Its a SB 360 but with my 92 Dodge W250 and five speed. I stay around 11-12 on average. Best ever was 15 on the highway around 65 MPH. It sucks enough to piss me off. LoL.

Pretty sure it was mentioned already but not reading the four pages. Military trailers are cheap and think getting one and modding it would be a good idea. The 101 are 3/4 ton I think and 105 are 1 1/2. Id get the 105 because its not too big and carries alot more. Plus the are so tuff!
