    Jeep New setup planning...

It's been a while. Had to take some time off. Engine Tranny and Xfer are in. Need to find a hydraulic clutch setup. Not enough room for manual linkage. After that it's electrical and fuel. Got most of those parts just need to install. Can't wait to hear her purr. Does anyone know of a slave...

    Jeep New setup planning...

Thanks Keester, My mechanical linkage clutch worked good b4 so I'm leaning towards keeping that. Will look into those springs. I've got a cut down front axle, minus gears, and have a rear end lined up. Would be a good time for springs if the funds hold out. Top end done. Working on the bottom...

    Jeep New setup planning...

Pictures of progress so far: AMC 304 coming out Vortec test fit (may have to squeeze it forward a touch) That's a lil higher than the lift really is... Working on freshening up the engine and gathering all the little parts.

    Jeep New setup planning...

Still hoping to go hydraulic on the clutch but we'll see how the cash holds up. I know the body lift is going to make it a lil more tippy but will be offset by wider axles hopefully. It already has a 2.5" suspension lift on it so I needed the body lift to fit 35's. Probably going with 4.33...

    Jeep New setup planning...

Yea Keester will get to that soon. Had fun playing in the junk yard all day. Got some goodies and was eyeing up a rear axle. Picked up a front axle from online so the pile grows. Pics coming soon.....:D

    Jeep New setup planning...

Finally got time to post an update on my re-build. Body lift is in and enging/tranny/xfer are out. Got my new to me Vortec 5.7 and had to pull the intake off to fix a leak. Question: While pulling the top half of the intake off I noticed carbon build up but only on the front half. The leak...

Thanks Rock. Figured it would be nicer. Where did you get your setup from? Is there anything worth looking at in the junk yard?

    Jeep New setup planning...

I am doing some upgrades and was debating what type of clutch setup I can do. My CJ7 is getting a Vortec 5.7 with SM465 4spd and NP205 xfer case. It has a 2.5"suspension lift but is probably getting a 2" body lift to fit some 35's. With that height my thought is it might be easier to do...

    Hydro boost issues

Figured it out. Was putting air back in because the res had filters that were plugged. One on the return input and another on the outer part to the inner. Nothing a drill couldn't fix. Just got one more brake line with air in it. Thanks for the help pointing me in the right direction.

    Hydro boost issues

Just installed a booster from a Chevy Astro with a steering box from a Cherokee and a pump out of an Isuzu caus I needed the V-belt pulley on it. The problem is the pump sucks all the fluid out the reservoir, which I got from the Isuzu. If I keep putting more PS fluid in it when it's running...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

Installed a bypass filter instead of the inline to help regulate the fuel and problem solved. Has a 3rd line to return excess gas to the tank. When installed level with the carb it helps prevent fuel from draining out when you shut down. Works great. Ran it up and down the mountains all weekend...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

Yea Larry, My buddy swears by them If your gonna carb it. It runs really good once I got it jetted right. gcb--- I did put the electric in as a backup, Manual pump is brand new. Don't notice much difference and it didn't help my problem when heated up. I think it's electrical. I tried a bunch...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

Thanks guys.. A friend also told me to get an electric between the tank and mechanical pump so it's off to get an electric fuel pump and play with this distributor cap b4 I put a new one on. Then to get it good and hot to test it. I read about smaller distributors "becoming electronically...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

It's got the prestolite with a new ignition box. Working on upgrading the distributor cap with an adaptor and a larger top. Supposed to prevent crossfire. Probably upgrade with the matching wires too. Hoping I don't have to fork out the cash for a MSD CDI box.

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

I replaces both fuel filters(clear inline and screw in on carb) when I got rid of my rusty tank for a new one. I don't think it's overheating because the gauge goes from cold to about the middle then doesn't move when engine gets hotter. No coolant coming out overflow. It had a repaired radiator...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

At this point I'll take any ideas I can get. I already have a plastic spacer and thick gasket under carb and left the OE filter one it so maybe some ducting will work. Would love to find some louvers for the sides of the hood but so far only full hood ones. It might come down to the holes. I...

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

Sputtering and chugging but only when real hot. Got on expressway running bad and within a mile or so it went fine like a switch.

Jeep Good running 304 until it gets HOT

I got this 76 CJ7 a few months ago and have been chasing this problem that comes on only when it gets good and hot. Like sitting still or slow crawl. Thought it was vapor lock so I put in new mechanical fuel pump, re-routed fuel line and protected it along with putting in a fuel regulator. Still...

Wanted: rear disc conversion for my CJ7

Yea all valid points but in the end it comes down to funds and expertise. No doubt the 1 piece axles are my first priority but would probably combine that with a disc brake mod. If i went to the 8.8 I'd have to shorten it. A little out of my league. Besides I don't plan on being real aggressive...
