    Differential shop reccomendation

Big thanks to Ryan with Agility Customs, my rear axle is all rebuilt and the truck is back on the road! I was up until 4AM last night (this morning?) getting it all back in (plus replacing the front swaybar links that were apparently pieces of garbage). Had to run to Lowes and Home Depot first...

    Differential shop reccomendation

It's definitely something I've thought about, but I don't have the time or inclination right now. It's really not that common to break the rear axle on these unless you're pushing it hard on obstacles and with larger tires which really isn't a goal of mine. My rig is my daily driver and more for...

    Differential shop reccomendation

The Eaton isn't a limited slip, at least mine isn't. It's either open or locked. I know there are plenty of other H3's running the Eaton (since that is the factory locker) that only have issues with the pins wearing out, though most of them are the 3.7L. Personally I feel that for my rig with...

    Differential shop reccomendation

Only 33's, but it's a 5.3L running through a 4:1 transfer case on a rig that stock weighs 4800 lbs, and probably with me, a full tank of gas, the UCP, winch, bumper, tools, fridge, roof rack, etc I bet it's more towards 5800 lbs. Really should get it weighed some time. With the way the axle...

More pictures of the damage. I pulled the axle assembly completely out in preparation for taking it to Agility, and tore it the rest of the way down but left the carrier installed in case they wanted to check everything, plus I know you need to keep the caps with their respective sides and...

The carnage: Spider gears: Passenger axle gear (about 1/3rd cracked off): Driver gear (didn't even see this until I got home): Unfortunately there was also damage to the ring gear and tiny nick to the pinion from what I can see. Looks like a chunk was wedged between the...

    Differential shop reccomendation

Talked to Ryan right after he posted, he's going to crunch some numbers and lookup parts for me since I threw him a curve-ball with it being for an H3. :D For some reason several manufactures try to list the 8.0 for the rear in addition to the 8.5, and on top of that they can't decide if we have...

    Differential shop reccomendation

So while down in Moab with my Hummer H3 this week I blew the spider/axle gears in my rear diff and chipped a few of the corners of the ring gear's teeth going up Metal Masher. My Eaton e-locker's pins are also rounded off so that would need to be rebuilt as well. I've done pretty much everything...

Central Utah February RME Trail Run - Little Sahara Dunes

Yep, not happening for me. Still had a couple damp spots in the foam rubber under the carpet so that's got to finish drying, and I still haven't even touched the panels I pulled out so those all need a good scrub. Maybe another time.

Central Utah February RME Trail Run - Little Sahara Dunes

I probably won't be making it now. I decided last Saturday to vacuum the inside of the Alpha and got a little carried away and now the interior is pretty much all stripped out and I have the carpet in my basement with a fan on it. It's really clean now though... If I can get it completely dry...

You know, I'm not sure. This is SuperBuick's Alpha, picked it up from him Saturday.

Central Utah February RME Trail Run - Little Sahara Dunes

Picked up a new rig to replace my current one: 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha 5.3 V8, 4:1 transfer case, front and rear lockers, and currently sporting 35" KO2's. I'll be bringing this one to Little Sahara instead. I just barely got it home from Seattle Sunday afternoon, and I need to replace the...

    Register military trailer in Utah

I'd have to get it weighed, but I thought those M101's weigh about 1300 pounds stock. I doubt the stock axle and wheels is half that weight.

Pretty certain you do, The law only talks about a weight threshold from what I saw. https://dmv.utah.gov/vehicles/trailers

    Register military trailer in Utah

Anyone on here familiar with the process for registering a military trailer? I just picked one up off KSL, I don't think it's ever been registered here, and so far I haven't found any vin plate or anything like that one it. It's been through the wringer and the build plates aren't even on it...

    replacement leaf springs

Y'all have a messed up view of how U-bolts should fit. In my opinion U-bolts shouldn't ever require man-handling with cheater pipes to spread the tips apart by an inch or more and then large clamps to press them back together so that they'll fit through the plate (which is what would have been...

    replacement leaf springs

I also have to cut off the front spring bolt, apparently that is completely rusted into the inner sleeve of the bushing and does NOT want to budge. So I'm done for the evening. I'm not wasting my time trying to re-bend U-bolts that should have been bent the right dimensions in the first place...

    replacement leaf springs

Yeah, no. That's not going to open up the bend 1/4, just the tips. It's 1/4 too narrow at the diameter of the bend. If I were somehow able to bend it open enough to fit on the axle, there'd be no way for me to get it to fit through the bottom clamp plate.
