I really like the design DC has come up with to allow the fitment of 37's with only 4" of aftermarket lift. And 35's with a 2.5" budget boost. Should help the sale of them with people knowing they can go that big fairly cheap.

I just got back from driving the silver 4 door @ D'Ambrosio (called my friend, Michelle the salesperson). The 3.8L isn't bad at all. I only put a couple miles on it as someone was making a 'deal' on it, but for the most part I liked it. I spent about 15 minutes with it......

Things I liked.
Pretty smooth ride
fairly quiet except for the hardtop pieces that were on it in 'bikini' mode--they kept 'flapping'
fair to good low end torque
auto trans seemed smooth
width

Things I was a little questionable on
I drove a Wrangler X---it does have the D30 and it looks a little weak (even more so than previous models) being that wide.
There was very little 'tub' to the body (Kinda weird getting into a 'Wrangler' without the stepover)

Doors (front and rear) are EASILY removeable if you replace that stupid TORX bolt holding them on before they corrode and have issues. Ben (I think--I've never met him, but it looked like him) from Creasey was looking at it as I drove away.

according to one of the videos on the jeep site the rubi version will come with 35's on it.

I wish I could link to it, but it is the one that is 4:14 and has the red four door on it.

Curious, what don't you like about the Hemi? I don't know engines at all but doesn't that just refer to the shape of the combustion chamber? I always hear of people wanting them. What is your take on them?

Medsker

PS. Just read what I wrote and could be construed as combatitive and let me assure you it is not. I really want to know as I am hoping they come out with a V8 in them next year so I can justify buying one.

Hemi= Hemispherical valve chambers. Nothing very special considering there are better designs.

People want them because the term is catchy and they can pull up at a stop light, revv their engine, and say "Yeah... its got a Hemi."
Saying "Yeah... its got a 6 liter." Just isnt as catchy.

In my book the pros are
-340 horsepower stock.
-Aftermarket exhaust sounds good.

While the cons are
-Craptacular reliability.(Brother has blown one motor at 40K miles, with several repairs on new motor.)
-Slightly less than average response to mods. (Same brother $1000+ in aftermarket and less than 400 horse. With a cam, and bolt ons, youre supposed to be close to 500 though)
-Revvs up high, which is cool but it means there isnt as much low end. Which means its bad for towing. Common of most newer V8's though.

Theyre just too gimmicky for me. Having a Hemi doesnt mean you have a good motor.

I dont see DC ever putting one in a Wrangler. Theres too much power for a vehicle that small, unless the new ones are MUCH bigger than Im expecting. A smaller V8 might make it in there one day though. A V8 would also mean new axles, which could be good or bad.

No worries, you really didnt come off as combative. Id say wait a year or two for them to work the bugs out and then get one regardless. Im sure the V6 could be woken up.

You bring up a good point about the v6 being able to be woken up. You figure a V8 add on will run you a couple thousand dollars. What kind of low end torque could you get out of the 3.8 for a couple thousand. I guess time will tell. I figure if I get one it will be next year and by then people will have played with the V6, Jeep will have decided on a V8 and they will have worked out the bugs. I guess that makes next year perfect :D Now if I can just win the lottery I will be all set.:p

My buddy that sells up at LHM said they have one up there and that it is real sweet. I am going to have to go check it out. I also like that you can fit 35" tires with 2 1/2" lift. He was thinking that the Rubicon was around $32,000. I'm sure reality (<$) will keep me out of one for a few years, but maybe after the Cherokee can't take it anymore....

Don't think you can complain about stock with 32s, front and rear lockers and room for the family.
Makes me want to get the Montero paid off....

i think some tube doors would kinda make the lines flow a little better, when the doors are off, i saw one driving next to me yesterday in my stock tacoma and it actualy looked kinda big, but i like it and cant wait to see what people are going to start doing to these things

I think this thing is cool. I am looking forward to seeing what Jon from Mount Logan does to his. (He picked it up the other day I think.)
All in all it should get somebody laid. Not me, I'll have to get mine in the wife prefered color.. But it might carry the car seat without me getting hassled too much.

Oh yeah , Bryson, that comment goes for you too now buddy. Congrats!

according to the build options only 32's are available on the Rubicon. :(

Also, did you guys notice they have gone away from the Goodyears and gone to an exclusive BFG MT tire

I'd drive one for sure ;)

Well for what it's worth Full Traction's kits are available for the JK's and we hope to have a 2" kit w/ 33's installed late this week or early next week. 3" kits fit 35's, and 4" kits (not yet available) fit 37's. Full Traction definitely got an early jump on everyone else, they've had their JK lifted and running around on 35's for some time now. They'll have 37's on it by SEMA from what I understand.

RE is just now getting their JK and they hope to have a lift designed by SEMA. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has lifts available at this time, despite the numerous press releases floating around.

Our kits should be here Thurs or Friday of this week.

I'll post pictures once the lift and tires are done.
