If you are married are you sure it is only going to be YOU on those long trips. 10 years from now you could have x number of kids. Then you will have to get something bigger. Look for something that will fit your needs for the future, you never know.
I'm not too worried about that. My wife is the one that is dead set against kids, I'm just not fond of them. So it works out well. But if that were to happen, my wife is already eyeballing four door Tacoma's for her next vehicle.

I agree with Kurt, if you like, build it. You don't want to build something that you don't have a passion for. I have spent alot of time and money building up a Mitsubishi Pickup and I absolutlely love it. I wanted to build something different and the truck had alot of sentimental value to me.

If you swap out enough OEM parts for Jeep parts you can make everyone on this board jealous, but it gonna take more than $5500 to do that.
