GMC / Chevy Axle ???

anyone know what axles are under an 72 3/4 chev?

It has a standard rotation dana 44 front and in the rear it could have a 14 bolt or a chevy 12.25 with a drop out third member. Do you have any pics I could tell you for sure by seeing them

Nope just a regular Dana 44 there is no real gain to running a big hub 44 anyways

My old 72 3/4 had the standard rotation 44 up front with big hubs and an HO72 rear (looked like the big brother to the Ford 9 inch). Some of the 72 3/4 tons also came with Dana 60 rears, none had the 14 bolts that I am aware of. The 60s were on two wheel drive models, at least they were on the ones I parted out.

I have never actually seen a truck that old with the 14 bolt but it is listed as an option almost all 4 wheel drive truck that era had the drop out third member

"chevy 12.25" heh, that's an Eaton HO72. Decent axle, getting harder to get parts for.
