cheapish telephoto options?

I shoot a Nikon film SLR (will have to look up model) and next month have the chance to do some private land wildlife photography.

I would like to up my telephoto options (current max is about 200 mm) but budget is limited do to a rash of truck and boat repairs.

Any suggestions?
