Give me advice on getting my truck registered

I just moved up to Sandy Ut and need to register my toyota but I know cops are super anal up here and im also worried about passing safety. Currently on 39s, 3" tg sas, hydro assist and all the typical toy junk inluding wheel spacers up front.

I have a set of narrow wheels with 35s to throw on, that have probably 50% tread. I also have mud flaps. What else do I need to worry about?

Flares need to cover the tires and mud flaps. You need the "regular" stuff, horn, turn signals, brake lights, mirrors, brake linings, etc. to pass. There's a bunch of threads on here that have the actual LEGAL code included in them.

I've seen a lot of death-trap rigs on the road that I sure wish the UHP would be more anal about.

Good stuff, when I get to a computer ill do a search. Ive never lived anywhere this strict and am honestly annoyed by it. CA, NV, ID were actually very relaxed and I never got pulled over even on the 39s.

I would think so too but it seems like every time my truck touches utah soil I get pulled over. Mechanically my truck is solid, drives down the road like a dream and yet every uhp schmuck that pulls me over says im driving a death trap and for the safety if everyone on the road I shouldn't be driving it.

Yep, dealt with this before. Sucks. I had no idea UHP were mechanical experts and knew how to spot sound or defunct equipment just by noticing how large the tires are.

Good luck man. :)

The rear bumper has tabs to mount 2'x3' mudflaps that completely cover the tires. I had issues with Utah cops pulling me over when I had 35's on it and the tires barely stuck out at all. I think out of state plates get too much attention. It sits 26" to the frame on the 39's with 26psi and 24.5" with 6psi.

I was expecting worse, that looks like its far from a "death trap". With a different wheel and tire combo, and some flares and flaps, I dont see why you would have a hard time at all getting it to pass safety.

That's the thing, the truck is very clean, mechanically in great shape, and I have 15x7 3 3/4" bs wheels and 35's that I drive around on the street and STILL get hassled in UT.

I'll actually be working with Eric Westover this summer up in ID to tube out the rear, rework the suspension front and rear with the final goal of it sitting a little lower and have front and rear removable fender flares tied into the quasi-exo. Since I live in an apt and are broke I can't do the whole tow rig route for a few years.

So I looked at the state requirements. Do they really check to make sure the speedo functions? My speedo gears are stripped and I don't really feel like spending $$$ to fix it. :D

Same with my window washers. My res is currently cracked and that IS something I want to fix. Anyone recommend a good toyota junkyard or a decent pick n pull around here (I'd drive up to an hour away)?

I was thinking worse too. I would say flaps and 35's ought to get the job done if the rest of the truck is in good mechanical condition. What is the frame to ground measurement? I think for that rig you're limited to 24"

26" on the 39's with full street pressure. On 35's it shouldn't be an issue, if anything I can borrow my buddies 235's on stock wheels to get it to pass safety. Anyone know the GVWR of a 93' Toyota std cab? The law states under 4500lbs is 24" lift, 4500 - 7499 is 26" and above 7500 is 28".

Anyone have an answer to my questions regarding them actually testing the spedo? If only I had someone up here like I did my smog guy in Vegas... :D

yes they will tag you on the speedo if they notice, usually during the emissions test.
I got failed on the medium speed on my heater fan not working....

I sure the law states that if it was install from the factory and it doesnt work... you get failed
