I finally went out to the garage and started trimming the brackets off the HP60/70U. I also cut some of the drivers side spring perch off the 60.

After hashing it out, I'm going to run coilovers and full hydro in the front. I am going to need 107"-108"wb to run 40s and keep it as stable as before.

I'll post pics of the progress as I go along.

A few pics of TJs that have the ride heigth/width I'm looking for. Thanks for the inspiration during your awesome build Chad.

no problem, if you want to check it out your more then welcome to. Its sitting about 3-4 inches higher at the moment untell I get new springs, but I actually like the height its at with 38.5 inch tires. When I go to 40" tires I'll for sure lower it down. You've got a great start, I'm intrested to see it done. You have 3 weeks ;) i still need to do new links in the rear and push ig back farther. Im only 102"

Thanks

I would definately like to check your jeep out. Up until recently, I was dead set against coilovers but came to my senses. I'll be bringing a tape measure and a camera if you don't mind:D

This go around, I'm buying everything from fab shops to reduce time. I spent two weeks fabbing my rear brackets on the last build and I'm not doing that again:greg:

So with 38.5" tires, what is the measurement from ground to bottom of rocker (where the tub sheet metal stops)?

What HP60 is that? Looks like a 88-89ish F350? Ya gonna narrow it up?

I'm all for buying someone elses brackets - definate time savers! BTF makes some nice ones!

I have a almost complete axel mounts for a 60 coil buckets and all, I only ended up using the upper link mounts. If you need anything let me know.

The front axle is out of a 91 F350 that I picked up from Seth@RL. I dont have any plans of narrowing it. I wanted to run fullwidth axles, so I made the decision to run factory axles rather than buying customs. Seemed more cost effective, we'll see.....

I plan to have the rig finished by spring of 08 in time for EJS or RedbullTJ is gonna be wheelin his rig and I'll be riding b*tch with Jenn:greg:

"swollen goat" is a song from a band named clutch. Appropriate if must say.

Thanks for the interest. I have a long road ahead of me.

The reason I ask is because the pinion is offset from the TC on the 91, unless you narrow it ~2.25" - it puts the driveline kinda close to the frame and things there. It's one of the major reasons I narrowed the long side to fit a 79 F350 inner; lined the pinion right up. With you trying to keep it real low, it might be a problem.

I have the same front axle in Pickles (86 HP60). I think this axle is perfect as long as you can deal with 3 less inches on the drivers side tube. Since Goat plans on coilovers in the front....he has no worries. The front yoke will get close to the frame rail but it still clears fine. Plus the benefit of an 86 style axle is that it should have non-neck down axles in it, it "should" be a tad bit stronger (inner shafts).....slap some 35 spline outters and the Goat should be fine.....(Goat drives like a lunatic, so I might be wrong)

Sweet! It looked close to me when eyeballing it, so I didn't want to take any chances by finding out the hard way. ...I still need to go wheelin' with you - I want to see your rig in person at least once.
