So whats the solution to this problem what action needs to be taken? I have searched and read alot of what people would like to do, I have read this thread and seen a few ideas but what do we need to do to take some action. Or is there a reason behind not doing anything about it?
Permission to do anything is the problem, parts of the area are BLM and parts are private.
I see some familiar folks in that photo, did you take that one?
No, that was before my time of beating the crap out of my vehicles.... I was still on quads critters and feet back then.

It's a cool pic, wish I had a full rez of it.

Where did you find it? I'm pretty sure I was there that day, whomever took it might have a full-res pic. I know I have a photo of 1/4Eliptic (Tracy) on the same day (I think)... however I was still using an old school 35mm at the time, so its an actual print :D

a big part of it is idiots going were they don't belong and not reading signs.i get sick every time this comes up and i search back for old pics of what these trails used to look like.look at the dates on the posts and how quickly these trails declined .i know in the three years i have been here i have seen massive changes in these trails to the point i refuse to run them anymore.

is it worth going through the trails, removing rocks tat dont belong there, or moving them to acutally make it harder?

or does everyone look down on that type of behavor?

A destacking party is what came to my mind. There was a lot of rocks at the bottome of WW and eagles nest (not that they did any good there).

I hope we all know to remove the rocks that we sometimes need for a little help.

"Constrictor is not a beginner trail. You better be locked front and rear with enough clearance and big tires. Likely that 35's are going to have a rough time with it. Longer wheelbase would certainly be helpful.

expect damage. at a minimum, expect some body damage (unless you have fully exo'd the thing). This is an expert trail only that should be left to the guys who are ready to do this type of trail.

Perhaps someday, I'll try it in my TJ (after I get my new axles, bigger tires, full cage, etc.), but right now, I fall in the feint of heart catagory with spence.

Oh yeah, the TJ that did go up it is stretched, locked Dana 60's F&R, about 38" tires, excellent driver with no fear of damage

I don't mean to be harsh, but this trail is a hardcore trail that should be left to the hardcore rigs.

If you want to go up there and see it, follow someone who knows where it is and hike it."

...How times change. I have about the worst suspension any CJ has ever had, and am on 35"s. I only had to adjust my line once or twice. No real danger of braking parts or body damage. IMO.

Yup, unless you drive the actual obstacles instead of driving around them.

so that was a trail? wow looks more like a revine somebody said hey lets go up that grab the beer boys!:D Its amazing how its all open now i see your point about it being a paved road now compared to then, but what if only the very few that had those rigs where to have been going there, would you still have access to it where not to many people would be able to drive it. Seems the less the trail is used the more likely it is to be shut down, there would not be enough people to care about it closing except for those few. of course those few people would be the only ones to tear it up and knowbody would know about it, well just screwed i guess, no matter what we do its a never ending battle:(

so let me ask this. would you take your Jeep with 31's up Helldorado? no you wouldn't why .because

A its a known trail that is rated 5+
B its got a gate keeper that keeps people that don't belong there out.

does this trail have a sign saying that you need lockers ,winch, expect body damage, etc etc.

no it doesn't

Constrictor has such a sign but for some reason people choose not to read it or they are just plain illiterate and continue on their way like they belong there.the trail gets widened, ruined, and becomes a freeway.

Is it not possible that even the rigs built to handle the obstacles on the Con did the majority of the widening of the trail? Ive seen even the best built rigs having trouble and taking slightly different lines on a particular obstacle thus widening the trail ever so slightly. Built rigs breaking and then in the recovery process breaking away brush moving dirt/rocks out of necessity just to get their broken junk off the trail. Built rigs trying to climb eagles nest and in the process slamming their belly and diffs into the ledge and breaking it down over time.Even the above pics show big 36"-40" tires eating away at the at the soil beneath as the Fang shifts all the weight to the passenger side. The first people through the trail started the erosion and with this trail in particular it has proven to be hard to stop. I would venture to guess that the majority of the initial widening has been done by the built rigs not the 31" tire rigs.

Nice dream, but you're wrong.

You cannot plow a field by turning it over in your mind. That's the problem.

I'm not saying it wouldn't have slowly gotten widened or that the Eagle Nest would have slowly broken down.but thats the main thing slowly not at the rate it has.any trail will become wider with use of any vehicle its the amount of time that the trail has declined that i'm pissed about.

I love the multi yearly argument about the Con.... I know there was some covert operations planned early in the year that died.. how about we get these going again? VIA PM?

Wow, such arrogance:-\ How could I be wrong? I've witnessed it personally.

I just think its easy for some of you to blame the 31", open diff crowd, but those of us with buggy's and rigs built to get through the Con in its early days had more to do with the erosion/bypass making than you are letting on.

Now its to the point where the little guys can get through and are making it even worse which sucks, but lets not act like the built rigs had nothing to do with the trails current state.
