Hey guys so Im starting to look into tires for when winter ends, or i win a few thousand dollars whichever comes first, since 3 of my 5 are getting super low on tread! Im running a 35x12.5r15 Old style MTR and I love them! I want to keep the jeep slightly DD capable for around town errands, I dont like to run my duramax for short runs if i can avoid it but have a work truck i get to use when Im on days on also. Ive always owned trucks equipped with offroad tires so you wont normally find me crying about a tire that has some road noise, as long as it doesnt shake fillings out.... The biggest thing Im worried about is offroad performance and a tire i can count on to get me back off the trail regardless what kind of crap I drive over!

Reasons Im still looking for what to go with based on others reviews and opinions:

MTRk's are hard to air down with the stiff sidewalls they have and i dont have beadlocks. Love everything else i hear about them, especially the price!

Toyo MT's have great reviews until they get older it seems, then i hear they harden up and dont stick to the rocks as well...

General grabbers have lots of ups and downs, one guy will scream they stick to the rocks epic next will say they barely hook up.....

KM2's I was kind of leaning towards also but a friend of mine ruined the sidewalls on these a few times on his rigs, maybe the KO2 will be a better set up???

Duratracs just dont have as mean of a tread pattern as id like, i do hear lots of good about them but it seems they are better for DD guys.

Pitbulls are epic but Im slightly undergeared for 35's already (4.10's). They pack on the weight, dont hear much else about them except heavy complaints honestly.

Maxxis Treps?!?!? Ive not heard about maxx treps for utah based rigs at all..... Looking for some feed back on the DOT rated ones as i do like to drive my jeep places other than the trail... At the same time i wouldnt be scared to run non DOT tires but it would probably ruin those tires WAY too fast for me to justify the cash.

There are tons of others too so dont be afraid to shout them out if you have something you really like! Honestly if I could find my way into 3 old style MTR's with lots of tread (like a spare someone almost never ran) Id stay MTR's till mine were bald as could be!!!

I really liked my radial Trepadors when I ran them. There are a couple very recent thread on here talking about them--Mesha and Skippy both run them, and Skippy just bought another set, to replace the MTR/K's that he's unhappy with. I'm far too lazy to search out those threads though, so I'll let you find them. :cody:

Perfect ill do some more searching then! Id tried but i think id spelt it wrong! Trepadors and treppadoors probably dont go together in a search engine ha

Do you have the stiff when airing down issue?? Youve got bead locks right?
No beadlocks. I love my 38" Kevlars and like my 35". The 35" are still pretty new and more street driven. I like the structure ("stiffness"--maybe it's the little blue pills the other guys use?). I run them right at 10 psi and they hold the bead most of the time even on h2 wheels

I'll sum the threads up with a couple lines of a conversation I had with skippy-
Me: I really like my km2's, they're good tires.
Skippy: Yeah but treps are made of Chuck Norris' dead skin cells.
Me: Chuck Norris' skin cells don't die.
Skippy: Exactly.

I put radial treps on our minivan awhile back. We've put about 4k miles on them and no complaints so far. Dirt to asphalt ratio is very low, so all I can promise is they won't shake your fillings loose. They're actually quite a bit quieter than the Toyo M/Ts they replaced.

I've put a very mean 25000 miles on my km2s in 5 yrs. this included pulling trailers, running sharp lava rock, sand, Moab, highway snow and ice. I've ran them for weeks at low pressure and neglected them. Without a single issue. I do know 1 person that managed to run a branch right into his sidewall though. Toyo mts are basically only worth running on a diesel, around here they are to stiff for lighter rigs.

I hated the toyos on diesels, but back when i ran them they had a softer compound than the currently do (or so ive been told)! My one friend punched a few holes through sidewalls on KM2's but he has enough money that he is more concerned with havin fun then what breaks in the process...

I really liked the KM2s on the JK until 2 things happened. 1) I tried them in the snow and ice. The are the worst tire I have had in the snow and ice. 2) I really liked them in the rocks, until I tried some Trepadors.

I liked my toyos on the diesel I didn't like them on anything else I have had them on.

I guess when i say i didnt like them on the diesels i should mention that i race mine and needed a tire that could also work for winter. They got chewed up way to easy when racing, did hook up pretty decent though. The STT's hooked up better for 4wd launches but i hated those tires for everything else basically. Thinking ill go at3's this time around currently....

You guys really have sold me on the treps for the jeep though! Not to win some money!! ha

My 35 17s were $1340 for 4 to my door. Filthy Motorsports had the best price
