what do u think about their optimizer 2 computer progamming?

http://kennebell.net/accessories/optimizerII/optimizer2.htm

would this be a good upgrade? they do this with their super charger kit to control the timing and various other things. where i dont have a distributor i need to find a way to retard my timing under boost.

Ordinarily the map sensor reads Vacuum, you need one that reads boost. it's the sensor you have to change when converting from normally asperated to forced air induction.

How much boost are we talking here, 2-8 lbs? if so with the correct map sensor you're timing should be within the range of your standard ecu. You shouldn't need any additional timing correction.

After talking with 505 Performance they told me about the company they use for Fuel management and ignition, a company called Split Second.

this is from there website
"Split Second has developed an FTC1 Fuel/Timing Calibrator specifically for the Jeep 4.0L, in-line six engine. It is the perfect complement for either a supercharger or turbo. It allows the use of larger injectors to appropriately fuel the motor in boost. The FTC1 has it own 2 bar MAP sensor which replaces the stock MAP sensor. This makes it possible for the stock ECU to read boost. Map table A programs the fuel over the entire load range of the engine while map B programs the timing retard required to avoid pinging.

Before installation of the FTC1, this Jeep has a serious lean spot in boost. Both problems were fixed by the FTC1. An added feature of the FTC1 is that you can download different calibration files as needed. If this Jeep goes to the back country where premium unleaded is not available, the owner can download a calibration map that takes out enough timing to run on regular unleaded. The performance is not as good, but it is safe to run without worrying about pinging. "

After talking with this company ive decided im going to use their kit. Its $579 and both companies recomended that i use 30lb injectors.

turbo, intercooler, blowoff valve, and piping cost me 200 bucks, so no it wouldnt be cheaper to do a sbc swap. just need to get the injectors $60 on ebay, oil cooler lines $20 at evco, hood scoop $40 on summit racing, filter $20 at checkersand exhaust done $100. so maby 250 more $ to finish it, maby less if i do the exhaust myself

i was planning on using both bigger injectors and a way to increase fuel during boost, so thats y i need a FMU. Hesco makes a kit that JP used but its like 600 bucks and this Kenne Bell kit is what they use on there super charger kits

Please dont tell me you're still running a D35 while debating power upgrades on RME:rolleyes:

Quiet I am, as I am stupid, but the t3/t4 Hybrid is the best idea I have read here, that goes back to the days when I rocked a 244 Volv, with an intercooled B21FT.

Good Luck.

im not saying its a strong axle, just saying that i have yet to brake a shaft. eventually i will put a 9in or a 60 in the back but until then im content with the 35, until it brakes

I am a bit puzzled as you have stated in this thread that you are wanting better performance yet, you are still running stock gears-_-

i've also been looking to turbo my 4.0 with 505 performaces kit it would be nice cause i don't need bottom end torque my jeep has enough to pull up anything an just need top end wear the 4.0 lacks power not haveing to don't shift in parllys canyon would be nice. But like they said theres alot of work that go in to turboing a jeep on your own for the money you are better off buying a kit where the guess work has been done for you. Also another issue is you will have more crap to deal with and to have go wrong so take that into consideration.
