The e-lockers are cool but it way expensive to retro-fit them into a truck that didn't come with them. It's much more cost effective to go with ARB's if you want a selectable locker. Besides the carrier in an ARB is stronger than the factory one. Not that it matters a whole lot because the factory ones are pretty killer units.
The Superchargers for the 80 series cruisers (and for the V6 taco and V8 cruiser and Tundra) are all pretty spendy, it's more like $3800 just in parts for the supercharger for my '93.
Typical install cost unless I do it myself would run in the ballpark of $5500 including the blower. No matter how you slice it, it's a heavy bag of change to drop. And on a truck as old as mine, you've got to thoroughly check out the cooling system, pull and clean the injectors, probably run a compression check, change to the Iridium plugs they use on the V8's and run a EGT (exhaust gas temp) guage. All of that can add up fast!
A guy in Colorado just installed a SC on a '93 and had a few cooling issues ect he didn't take care of and blew the motor with 36 miles on the SC. So, it's worth the time to do it right if you're gonna do it, it's just a matter of paying for it.
For me, if I'm not gonna tow with it, there's really no reason to have the SC so I think I'll just look for a cheap, solid tow rig that will hold the wife and kids and call it good.
